Hello everybody. I’ve been browsing the Fediverse for a few months now and I’m loving it but there’s a not-that-small issue I’m having with Pixelfed
So basically every time i go into my federated timeline I always end up seeing PLENTY of literal porn (not artistic nude, i’m talking of fully fledged porn) EVERYWHERE. Is there a way I can disable it? I don’t want to force block every post maked as nsfw even because sometimes not-nsfw posts get marked as nsfw for some reason
I’m using in an Italian instance called pixelfed.uno

On a more serious note, if you’re going to the federated timeline, you can get all kinds of unwanted things. It’s usually best to search interests by hashtag and build out your community of folks you follow that way. Also most platforms allow you to block stuff market as #nsfw but that’s completely on the person to do the right thing. Which in reality, sadly, you should never depend on someone else.
I personally run my own GoToSocial, so I can defederate with folks I don’t want and have more control over what I see. More work for me, and GoToSocial isn’t fully ready for primetime, but that’s always an option.
The Fediverse is still in it’s infancy, so it’s gonna have some growing pains, but I’m hoping it continues to grow and things like you’re suggesting become an after thought in the future.
hello, being an user on the same instance, i just gave an eye to federated. Federated means that someone on pixelfed.uno follow those kind of remote accounts. As they are external users and respect Content Warning i don’t see any way the instance can do something.
But you can block for single user

Mastodon allows you to block an instance too. Maybe Pixelfed allows it too?
I should ask the maintainers of my instance. I’ll toot them or ask them on Matrix
I don’t think this is the best place to ask, some support forum for pixel fed would be better, but if there is no option to not show nsfw content and not show a certain instance (that a user can set on his own without the instance admins) maybe you should submit a feature request.
I saw some checkbox for enabling NSFW content when signing up for Lemmy and in the profile. Maybe you have it enabled?
But not every nsfw content is porn!

@super_user_do I’m running an pixelfed instance just for the pictures I have taken over the past 15 years. Some are nudes, some are artistic porn, but I always set them to #nsfw, so they should appear blurred in other people’s timelines. Have you set your client to always show cw’d images directly?
Yup I just don’t want to see porn in my timeline. As I mentioned in my post, not everything marked as NSFW is porn and I don’t want to disable everything
I have never experienced such a thing on pixelfed.social
Stop looking at the federated timeline. Look at posts from people you follow only and you’ll never see spam.
