smallcircles (Humane Tech Now)

Iā€™m Arnold Schrijver (he/him). Social coder. #FOSS, #HumaneTech and #Fediverse advocate.

I help foster #Solutions that improve #Wellbeing, #Freedom and #Society

Iā€™d like to ā€œReimagine Socialā€ and envision the rise of a #Peopleverse where social networking is seamlessly entwined with daily life. Iā€™m dreaming of opening up #innercircles ā€¦ but let dreams be dreams. They give guidance at best :)

I tend to agree. Now its forum-like apps where fedi integrations are made. Next it is more video apps, podcasting apps (via podcasting hub), coding apps (via the forge federation movement), and you-name-it different app domains.

Are we going to invent new names for each new app type that becomes federated? Might as well give the term Splinterverse right now then. Nothing feels connected anymore, and a ā€œunique selling pointā€ (to stick with marketing-like brand terminology) is lost.

Thought of Converse.

But a pity about the other meanings of ā€œConverseā€ than ā€œConversation; familiar discourse or talk; free interchange of thoughts or opinions.ā€

@Veritas

I might point to fediverse-ideas repository here, a recently started initiative in the same #Codeberg organization where the #ActivityPub #FEPā€™s are too.

https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediverse-ideas

You can create your #FediverseIdea here, discuss, and (hopefully) inspire people to implement them in their apps.

No, looks like Evan Prodromou has that opinion.

@LemmyDev is truly contributing to evolve the #Fediverse. They take care to craft good documentation, have created a separate #Rust project for #ActivityPub, are participating in the #SocialHub developer community, and contributing to the #FEP process.

E.g. thanks to #Lemmy we have standardization for support of AP Groups, for instance.

In other words, they lead by example :)

I encourage any fedi dev to do the sameā€¦
