Oh this is fantastic. It’s definitely something that’s been missing and been a conundrum in regards to figuring out how to sort it. Glad to see the PixelFed developer figured out how to do it.

Your frustration is palpable and that’s disappointing. Lemmy has improved a lot since we all arrived while the software experience is a lot smoother, admins have been clamouring for moderation tools the whole time. Ultimately there needs to be more contribution to do everything that everyone wants, but moderation needs to be a higher priority for sure.

I will say this though. I know you dislike developers discussing, disagreeing or even arguing, but I actually think it’s nice to see things in the open.

Whether you find happiness here or elsewhere in the fediverse, I wish you the best of success and not just because you host one of my communities 😂

Good read. BlueSky basically gives people the feeling that they’re in control, but actually is in control of everything. It’s like a house with no electricity.

The a.gup.pe Mastodon groups now federate into Lemmy
I'm happy to announce that the a.gup.pe Mastodon groups now federate into Lemmy. Previously they were just empty communities, but now they're being filled with content. Fantastic news. You can see the federation working properly at !bookstodon@a.gup.pe If this has been the case for ages and I'm just the last person to notice, I'm sorry.

What has dog adoption got to do with the Fediverse?

Huh?

3 browsers that at the time of the browser wars had three different rendering engines?

3 social networks that at the time of the microblog wars run on three different protocols.

The best comparison I can think of is, imagine Xitter to be Internet Explorer and ActivityPub as Firefox and then AT as Opera

Oh, I didn’t even know Epic owned Bandcamp. Thank you.

It’s been available for a while, but it’s a paid plugin.

Boo!

I liked when people had to put effort in and you could discuss things without coming up in searches.

It’s a hangover from Reddit culture. People think that the ALL page should be curated for them, not realising that it’s for everyone and that downvotes are for wrong content, not what they consider bad content in respects to their personal taste.

This is huge and excellent news. I can’t wait to welcome all of the gitlab users to our beautiful fediverse.

Hey everyone, before you start dogpiling this person, take a step back and understand we’re all one family.

When I first joined Lemmy, I joined Beehaw. I can’t speak for all of the admins, but Lionir is one of the kindest most helpful people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. That said, between them not allowing community creation and defederating with the instance my football communities are on, I realised I had to find another home. If I was asked to articulate that at the time, I would’ve had no chance.

Our friend here is simply asking for an opportunity to commune with people beyond that of which his current admins enjoy. We don’t know what it is. I can’t speak for all of the people that were banned from anywhere. I know that I’ve met wonderful people from all servers. Yes even the terrible ones. Don’t judge people by their instance. Unless they’re admins and their instance is full of Nazis. Then please judge them.

I don’t understand why you would take someone wanting to branch out and find their wings as a personal insult or threat.

Please just remember that we’re a team. We make this place good by interacting civilly with one another.

Also if you are familiar with Rust or PostgreSQL, please take a look at the Lemmy Github and see if you’re capable of contributing towards getting account migration sorted.

The fact that Ernest commented on this two months ago and then didn’t fix the issue is saddening. I understand that everyone is busy, but crediting people isn’t a big ask.

Makes me sad that people are ruining good things for what? No reason!

But now Lemmy has you and Phiresky looking over the database and optimizing things so things like this should be found a lot quicker. I think you probably underestimate your value and the gratitude people feel for your insight and input.

Lemmy.world should close registrations and not allow new communities
Things have been incredibly unstable there. Until things stabilise, they should force the traffic elsewhere.
