Who would own a car, then move into a building with no place to put it? The whole point of a big ‘ol complex with no parking is, here’s a place that’s cheaper because you don’t implicitly pay to store a vehicle, so come live here if you don’t have one ‘cus the transit is good. People are silly.
Even 95% doesn’t wreck my argument. Most folks who live “in the area surrounding Portland” never go downtown (by which I just mean inner west side, not the literal neighborhood). How many folks who live in Gladstone or Estacada are spending their free time at Powell’s or Yamhill Pub?
That said, I absolutely agree with everything else you said.
At least he has an interest in improving Downtown. 99% of Oregon’s population never even goes Downtown, assumes it’s literally on fire, and is fine with that.

I had no idea we even had these things. So quiet and smooth! You don’t realize how damn loud a normal bus is until you’re wooshed around on an electric one. TriMet doesn’t even say it’s electric anywhere. Just that it’s “zero emissions”.
Kinda the same here. Tried it our early, but it was kinda dead so I left. Then Twitter banned me for setting my profile name to Elon Musk, so I gave it another try and there’s all kinds of activity now. Really like it.
