Would be better to ask users on those sites directly, since weโ€™re only familiar with Lemmy here lol

That KF community is clearly satirical IMO, the one week old post on there is literally a farming youtube video.

This is like complaining that Anime Titties !anime_titties@lemmy.world is pornographic, when itโ€™s actually a politics community

Was this during the sync thing?

To be honest as a mod or admin I would personally get sick of reading the same things over and over again, with sync fans attacking staunch FOSSers and staunch FOSSers attacking sync fans. It only served to get both sides upset for literally no reason, and fracture the community even more.

Their inboxes would have also likely been flooded out to death during that time with both sides reporting each other over petty remarks

Doesnโ€™t make it right, however I can see why it happened. Probably another reason behind the โ€œdont report something unless its against the termsโ€ rule.

We could do this for any group of people we donโ€™t like IMOโ€ฆ Doesnโ€™t make it right, regardless of how disgusting their actions may be โ˜น๏ธ

I like my pineapple pizzas with a bbq base ๐Ÿคช donโ€™t come after me ๐Ÿ˜‚

Unless they changed it - the last time I checked there was an exception for posts violating community rules, so communities who want to exempt themselves can just add a rule IMO

From my perspective, communities in general instantly remove racist content once reported, and most racial slurs in these contexts are used as a personal attack towards another individual.

๐Ÿ”ฅHOT TAKE: There are contexts where racial slurs could be used without bad intentions, such as in a car visual customization community, or in a community with people of colour referencing each other. These slurs are especially used among younger age groups in a casual manner, who may not consider such terms offensive at their current point in life. Of course, such communities can just ban these terms outright with a new rule.

Unless iโ€™m missing something, I donโ€™t see the problem with this

Post titles can be edited after posting, at least on Lemmy

Integrating something like Matrix is not an easy feat, there is a lot of heavy lifting being done in the background to make things easier for us users, like key generation, message signing, verifying logins etc. that another dev may not have the time or resources to implement. Lemmy partially solves this with a dedicated message button if you have a Matrix account linked

Currently no easy way to tell if itโ€™s a bot IMO

Usually Kbin exposes the users who voted, but that community doesnโ€™t appear to be federating there correctly at the mo

I was contemplating setting up an instance dedicated to micromobility, active transport and livable citiesโ€ฆ but this is a BIG turn off - I donโ€™t think itโ€™s worth spinning up a new instance until the new mod tools land, and the ability to disable caching federated thumbnails

There are some instances using ML to scan their pictrs folder IIRC, could be good if it could quarantine/delete/purge posts from Lemmy

Things are already like that somewhat, as far as I can see.

Smaller instances for the most part need to have registration signups or capcha as a minimum, otherwise they risk swift defederation from larger instances when spammers arrive

As lemmyโ€™s mod tools improve I see things moving away from this approach though

In addition to the suggestion from @etchinghillside@reddthat.com, it might also be helpful to ask in !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml

I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if Lewy.world saw how much storage is needed and bailed on the projectโ€ฆ from a brief browse of lemmynsfw it seems like those admins run into a storage wall pretty often.

Another possibility is maybe the ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ or the domain provider got involved, instructing Lewy.world to pull the plug

Youโ€™re shifting the blame

I donโ€™t see how I amโ€ฆ

Ernest promised a quick resolution 2 months ago and didnโ€™t follow through.

I understand that, and itโ€™s unfortunate that heโ€™s been unable to do so thus far.

That fact does not affect the validity of the original question IMO, especially when the complaint is originating from multiple people who each have equal access to implement the desired change.

I donโ€™t use kbin, I only use Postmill, so expecting me to clean up his mess isnโ€™t a reasonable ask

Iโ€™m not expecting a specific individual to โ€œclean up his messโ€ really. There are multiple people being vocal about this issue besides yourself, from my perspective any one of these individuals can do this and move on.

It would take him less time to copy/paste the license file than it took him to write his latest feet-dragging comment here

While this is true, I think posts like these are also wasting his time needing to crowd control a post discussing how he should be using his personal time. These kind of interactions are really demotivating and draining for any developer or individual

Even if he went and did the change himself as a result of this post, people would still โ€œwhy did it take you this longโ€ and the like IMO

Life happens IMO.

Any reason why the people repeatedly raising the issue donโ€™t just open a PR in Codeberg adding the attribution they deem โ€œcorrectโ€? This isnโ€™t a court house, the source control tool is literally an open forumโ€ฆ

Am I missing something here?

Ooh I see what you mean, makes sense.

Although it stifles discussion about legitimate issues involving said word, it sends a clear message โ€œthat language is not allowed hereโ€, which might be reassuring for some users, even though the censored word or intent may still be blatantly obvious.
