The Window Smashing Job Creators - Paid Protestor's Blues
*this song is a joke making fun of the ridiculous delusions and conspiracy theories of the far right. Their illusion that george soros controls the radical left is ridiculous, unfounded, and anti-Semitic* **Lyrics:** I've got that George Soros money, and I am still waiting on that check, I've got that George Soros money, to pay for my broken neck, I've got that George Soros money, it is the only money for me, all of that George Soros money bought me all this LSD, I've got that George Soros money, where do you think we got these guns? I've got that George Soros money, to pay for all of our bailfunds, I've got that George Soros money, it is the only money for me, all of that George Soros money bought me all this DMT, Don't got that George Soros money, so we will work for free instead, Don't got that George Soros money, but I've got this loaf of bread, and if you want a piece just ask, we'll drink out of an empty flash, then wake up on the dead shores of tomorrow, We will gather up our sober selves, snort the dust off of our bookshelves, and then give gifts until there is nothing left to borrow, I've got that George Soros money, and I am still waiting on that check, I've got that George Soros money, to pay for my broken neck, I've got that George Soros money, it is the only money for me, all of that George Soros money bought me all this LSD,

Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere (Official Video)
*Two years before R.E.M. proclaimed "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)," Talking Heads shared the sentiment on their single "Road To Nowhere," a deceptively upbeat pop-rock tune about facing a dire future with optimism. "I wanted to write a song that presented a resigned, even joyful look at doom," Talking Heads singer David Byrne recalled in the liner notes of Once in a Lifetime: The Best of Talking Heads. "At our deaths and at the apocalypse… (always looming, folks). I think it succeeded..."* Song Lyrics: [Intro] Well, we know where we're goin' But we don't know where we've been And we know what we're knowin' But we can't say what we've seen And we're not little children And we know what we want And the future is certain Give us time to work it out [Verse 1] We're on a road to nowhere Come on inside Takin' that ride to nowhere We'll take that ride I'm feelin' okay this mornin' And you know We're on a road to paradise Here we go, here we go [Verse 2] We're on a ride to nowhere Come on inside Takin' that ride to nowhere We'll take that ride Maybe you wonder where you are I don't care Here is where time is on our side Take you there, take you there [Chorus] We're on a road to nowhere We're on a road to nowhere We're on a road to nowhere [Bridge] There's a city in my mind Come along and take that ride And it's all right, baby it's all right And it's very far away But it's growing day by day And it's all right, baby it's all right Would you like to come along? And you could help me sing this song And it's all right, baby it's all right They can tell you what to do But they'll make a fool of you And it's all right, baby it's all right There's a city in my mind Come along and take that ride And it's all right, baby it's all right And it's very far away But it's growing day by day And it's all right, baby it's all right Would you like to come along? You could help me sing this song And it's all right, baby it's all right They can tell you what to do But they'll make a fool of you And it's all right, baby it's all right [Chorus] We're on a road to nowhere We're on a road to nowhere We're on a road to nowhere We're on a road to nowhere

There’s a lot to unpack in your post…

  1. Being treated like a felon while purchasing groceries is hardly good news for residents.

  2. People having to resort to stealing their groceries in the first place is hardly a sign of a healthy society and economy.

  3. Giant conglomerate business interests are not the metric we should be using to measure the health of the local economy.

  4. Fuck Kroger

In this context, when someone says “so called place” it is a shortened way of acknowledging that the land they are referring to wasn’t always called that, that native folks have their own names for it. It’s seen as a respectful gesture.

I posted something elsewhere earlier, but it seems even more fitting here and now. So… I’ll just leave this here
