@deadsuperhero The problem is already very old (2017). Mastodon has decided it in its own way.

Nice to see a new attempt being made here that solves the problem in a charming way.

Please also remember: each person who can and wants to, should open their own instance. The Fediverse lives from the many servers that are connected to each other. All servers are equal to all others. There is no hierarchy or main instance.

The Fediverse explained simply
For all those who have contact with the Fediverse for the first time. A beautiful and light description of what the Fediverse is or wants to be. Take a look. We are facebook, twitter, instagram, rabbit and whatever they are all called, united in one network. We can talk to each other, no matter which project you use.

@WorriedGnome
Also, the forums or boards or whatever they are called on your platform are not trapped on one instance. You can always decide to follow a forum on another instance. All you have to do is enter the web finger and follow (webfinder = @name@instanz.ltd).

Your own instance is only a part of a larger world that is spread over different continents (instances).

@WorriedGnome
The instance is not as important as you think. In the Fediverse, they are all connected. That’s why I can answer you from a completely different part of the Fediverse (Friendica). You are not trapped on the instance. It’s just a gateway to thousands of other servers and the people on those servers.
