I’ve tried a few of them but haven’t found anything better than the PWA 🤷

You can follow hashtags with antennas.

Yeah well that’s great but I don’t want it in my antennae, I want them in my “timeline”. I don’t want to have to page over to antenna and select one every time I load/reload the service.

The benefit is controlling the public narrative. Think about it, how many news media companies get business from Twitter? And now he has the power to suppress their reach or to even kick them off the platform altogether.

Firefish is nice but I’m yet to find a stable instance and also for some unfathomable reason you can’t follow hashtags. And the federation doesn’t really work properly, which is kinda important when 90% of the Fediverse is on Mastodon.

An inevitable result of federation in the modern SJW era.

Why do journalists say it’s too confusing to catch on? I have no fucking idea.

It seems like it would be pertinent to make an attempt to understand the problem before trying to solve it…

If you look at it they have “posts” and announcements as well as an area to submit group resources

If you’re interested in Facebook style groups, I recommend Mobilizon from Framasoft

That’s not at all what I want. I feel like that much should be obvious at this point. Lemmy is a completely different type of social platform than Mastodon and other platforms like it. They do not work the same way.

I’m not asking them to change anything. Just wondering if there’s a different existing service.

Decentralized marketplace will just look like Craigslist and Facebook and other classified marketplaces; chock full of spam and scams.

I dunno, can you? I don’t need 12 different feeds. I don’t spend that much time on there. I just use the “Home” feed.

Yes, but this is only trending posts on basically the entirety of Mastodon. I’m looking for posts in my feed to be sorted by engagement. ie: “favorites” and especially # of “boosts”.

Yeah I’ve used Firefish, and I do like it a lot, but have been unable to find a stable server. Plus the inability to follow hashtags is a huge drawback…

I’m not looking for groups, I’m looking for individuals.

Is there a fediverse software that has "trending" posts?
I realize that Mastodon is specifically intended not to have any sort of algorithm, and I understand and appreciate that, but it's not what I want, personally. I want to have the posts in my feed sorted by the ones with the most "engagement" as those are likely the most interesting ones.
