I started at the same point. I deleted whatsapp and told people where to reach me.

It is. I did it. The power must be balanced or on your side of course. There are many people that just have signal or element installed just because of me.

Once, I convinced 6 people to use elment for a video call. 6 people installed it just because we wanted to call each other. It wasn’t difficult at all.

If you have to contact them, do they have to contact you as well? If so, leave whatsapp.

If mastodon would introduce location you could use it for that kind of stuff but I think they are busy doing other things. meaning, someone else would need to implement the location feature. And that’s totaly doable
