Tildes is the only other alternative that I know besides lemmy. It’s more focused on discussion, as you probably know. Personally, though, I doubt it can scratch my reddit itch. I do enjoy discussions, but I also need my “nonsense stuff” fix like memes. I do like what they’re trying to do. I think they’re a good complementary site to lemmy.

For me, the way Fediverse is set up just highlighted the dangers of centralization, at least for social media. It’s hard to have all your eggs in a basket controlled by a single entity that has virtually unlimited power to do what it wants with it. Fediverse isn’t perfect, but in some aspects it’s just better.
