Fediverse Galaxy Info

An example of gathering extended information about the servers / organizations that run Fediverse Galaxies.
People are welcome to add their own organizations, and it is available at the link provided as a set of browsable web pages, as well as a JSON feed for consuming programmatically.
RSS is also available for people who want to learn about new orgs as they get created.

This still needs the schema for orgs to be fleshed out, and then displayed on the post pages in a way that is visible.

Much like CoSocial is experimenting with a Lemmy instance as well as the main Mastodon one.
I pointed out that more information about the orgs involved could be interesting:
What is the organization type? How is it governed? How is it funded? How is it moderated? How can members get involved? — those are some of the important questions.
I suggested a GitHub based “API” site, which is what this is.
A community dedicated to fediverse news and discussion.
Fediverse is a portmanteau of “federation” and “universe”.

Hey @wakest@lemmy.ml thanks for sharing. This was a quick weekend hack. Mostly need some feedback and discussion on good ways of presenting the info and and what info to gather.
Glad you started this repo, I have been continuing to update my chart with instances I have found, but so far mostly just focusing on the intermix of fediverse software under the same control. I see you have been focusing just on cooperatively run galaxies, which I think is definitely the direction we need to take in the long run, but there are seemingly very few.
It’s literally a quick test with me filling out two, and @waglo@jasette.facil.services submitting one. Can you dump a link to a CSV or source into an issue there of the stuff you’re gathering please – I need examples to build out the schema, so I can actually display that rather than just the blog post stuff. Well, and the JSON file underneath that is meant to be used as an API.
